Actually, decomposers and scavengers aren't the same. Decomposers are living things that decompose animals. Scavengers are living things that eat parts of dead organism.

One difference between scavengers and decomposers is that scavengers are usually larger animals that feed on dead matter like a dead animal and decomposers are small organisms like fungi or bacteria that breakdown whatever is left over by a scavenger. Decomposers also breakdown matter that becomes nutrients for plants and soil.
