Actually, decomposers and scavengers aren't the same. Decomposers are living things that decompose animals. Scavengers are living things that eat parts of dead organism.

∙ 9y agoOne difference between scavengers and decomposers is that scavengers are usually larger animals that feed on dead matter like a dead animal and decomposers are small organisms like fungi or bacteria that breakdown whatever is left over by a scavenger. Decomposers also breakdown matter that becomes nutrients for plants and soil.
