What is the difference between regular and light tobacco?
Taste, and that's about it. If it is for "health reasons" you are looking for a lower tar cigerette, just quit. Last time I looked at the comparison between different types (full flavour brand x vs. brand y or regular vs. light) of cigarettes the difference in tar and nicotine percentages seemed almost negligible in many cases. Tar in the lungs is tar in the lungs for the most part. Just smoke what you like best, if the big C is going to get you its going to get you.

What is the difference between Tar and Bitumen?
Petroleum bitumen is often confused with tar. Although bitumen and coal tar are similarly black and sticky, they are distinctly different substances in origin, chemical composition and in their properties. Coal tar is produced by heating coal to extremely high temperatures and is a by-product of gas and coke production. It was widely used as the binding agent in road asphalt in the early part of the last century, but has since been replaced by refined bitumen.

What is the difference between asphalt and tar?
They are developed from completely different sources. Asphalt is a product made from crude oil. Coal tar comes from coal, as its name implies. This means that even though these two products look and may even smell similar, they are very different. Asphalt has a higher softening point than coal tar. Tar is a black sticky substance that is used to hold roofing tiles in place. Asphalt is used to build city roads and contains rocks and small stones.
