Ay married Tut's widow, his half sister Ankhesenamun, it is belived that the marriage was by force as it is known that Ankhesenamun requested a prince from a rival kingdom who was murded on the border and she herself disipears from history shortly after the marriage. Ay only ruled for four years before he died of old age, leaving Horemheb (A general and "Lord of the Land" under Tut) to become king.
Ankhesenamun was not buried with Tutankhamen. It is unknown where her body is but we know it is not with him as it is known that after Tutankhamun died, Ay married Ankhesenamun. Just in case you are wondering who Ay was, he was grandfather of Ankhesenamun and advisor of Tutankhamun. And yes, that was my intended name, but I misspelt it.

Tutankhamun's stepmother was Nefertiti. Tutankhamun's father, Amenhotep IV / Akhenatan had had Kiya, Tutankhamun's mother, as one of his many wives, and Nefertiti as another. Tutankhamun later married one of the daughters of Akhenaten and Nefertiti, Ankhesenamun.
