Bibulus (as his name is spelled) was no doubt also schemed against by Caesar, but his largely unsuccesful opposition against Ceasar was mostly due to the actions of Caesars's ally Pompey, and later - when civil war had broken out and he chose the side of Pompey against Caesar - due to his not being a very good general.
