∙ 12y agoNo cause Julius Caesar was from Rome and Cleopatra was from Egypt. As Cleopatra was a foreigner, any child they might have had would have been illegal. However Cleopatra had a son and she claimed that Julius Caesar was the father. Caesar, himself never recognized the boy as his son. neither while he was alive nor in his will. There is a lot of controversy over this as there are reasons to believe that Caesarion (the boy's nickname) was fathered by Caesar and reasons to believe that he was not.

∙ 11y agoYes, they had a son born in 47BCE named Ptolemy Caesar. Or at least that's what some people believe. Others dispute this for several reasons. At any rate Cleopatra claimed that Ptolemy Caesar was Caesar's son, Caesar never said so.

He says that Caesar left four legions in Egypt for a double purpose. One was to safeguard Cleopatra and her brother, if they remained loyal, (they lacked popular support in Alexandria,) and the second was to coerce their loyalty if they were ungrateful.Caesar and Cleopatra's relationship was nothing like the romantics would have you believe. He left troops with her when he returned to Rome, both to see that she remained on the throne (the Alexandrians did not want her as queen and were notorious for overthrowing their rulers) and to made sure that she held up her end of the bargain, as, according to the writer of the Alexandrian war, Caesar did not entirely trust Cleopatra.
