yes, but sadly his parents died when he was 1 years old. his parents died in an car crash, while they were driving a car immediately stopped and both cars crashed. his aunt found out about it and from then she took care of him. the news was broken to democritus at age 5/6. again another tradgedy happened in his life which was that his aunt had also died because of shock. ( she died when he was 15). since then he was living in an orphanage but never got adopted!
