I always used a rule of thumb on this. The owners manual tells you exactly what type and how much fluid is needed to use on your manual transmissions. How ever if you don't have that available if the transmission case is made from aluminum Mercon V is required and if the case is made from cast iron then gear oil (90W-120W) is needed.
