War started at 7aug. 2008. and still continues in South Ossetia
NO, Russia fights with Georgia for territory which is colling "South Ossetia" but is Georgian Land it's name is "Samachablo" . there lived Georgians but they killed and kicked them. It's true.
Georgia has no eternal enemies, but it has a strongly antagonistic relationship with Russia and the Russian-supported breakaway Georgian regions of Abkhazia and South Ossetia. While there is a certain degree of cooperation and travel permissions between Georgia and Russia or Georgia and Abkhazia, Georgia has no relationship with South Ossetia.
Communists named this peace of Georgia < South ossetia >, there lived Georgians! Ossetians with Russians killed and kicked Georgians from there , because Russians wanted punish Georgia for its loving of freedom and democracy.
South Ossetia is located in the South Caucasus.
South Ossetia is located in the South Caucasus.
Because in the war between Russia and Georgia, Abkhazia and South Ossetia took side with the Russians, so it's like the Russians owe them something. The Russians also bribed Nauru to recognize Abkhazia and South Ossetia by giving them aid
The population of South Ossetia is 72,000.
It's not the conflict between South Ossetia and Russia, it's the conflict between Georgia and South Ossetia. South Ossetia (Further SO) used to be a part of Georgia but the people from SO wanted to get independence and lived happily in their republic. But Georgia didn't want to let them go, the president of Georgia is fully concerned that he has the right to govern SO and its territories. And Georgia started bombig the capital of South Ossetia to show that they own it. Thousands of peaceful south ossetians died. Russia threw its armed forces to protect people of South Osetia and to make Georgia calm down... No success yet, seems like the whole world wants the third world war. Like people have nothing else to do...
Russia invaded Georgia in order to protect the interests of South Ossetia. The Georgian military had attacked South Ossetia because it claimed that Georgian towns had been fired upon and was responding to those attacks. Russia has strong ties to South Ossetia and Abkhazia. Russia is not willing that these regions should lose their ability to govern themselves without interference from Georgia. Georgia, on the other hand does not want to be subject to attacks from the South Ossetians. Georgia itself was once a part of the Soviet Union but won its independence from it in April of 1991.
South Ossetian Autonomous Oblast was founded on 20 April 1922 within the larger Georgian Soviet Republic of the Soviet Union. South Ossetia fought for independence from a newly independent Georgia and came to a ceasefire on 24 June 1992, which created the de facto independent Republic of South Ossetia using the same government from the prior autonomous oblast. As a result of the 2008 War between Georgia and South Ossetia, South Ossetian affairs are heavily influenced by Russia to the point where South Ossetia has effectively become a Russian colony. (It is the same way that the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus is effectively a Turkish colony.)
Georgia invaded one of its neighboring states, ossetia, that broke off and became an independent state in the 1990s. While the whole of Ossetia is an independent state, south Ossetia was a previous territory of Georgia and Georgia, wishing to regain its lost territory, invaded. Ossetia however, has gained close ties with russia in the past years and now has the Russian military on their side. Russia now is attacking Georgia for invading its ally, but instead of staying within Ossetia, they are crossing the border into Georgia and fighting there, as well as bombing areas outside zones in which fighting is taking place.
