No. A very basic history being - A republic was proclaimed during the 1916 Easter Rising against British rule. After the U. K. general election of 1918 when Sinn Fein won 73 of 105 seats they boycotted Westminister and formed a government in Dublin establishing a republic. This led to the Anglo - Irish war, which in turn led to the Anglo - Irish Treaty which brought into being the Irish Free State on 6/12/22. The 6 counties known as "Northern Ireland" opted-out. Finally in 1949 the Irish government declared a republic.

Who controlled Ireland before Great Britain?

Ireland are not and have never been under the control of Great Britain. The United Kingdom consists of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, the upper part of the island of Ireland, however Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland are two different countries in their own right, although there have been many issues over the years over the National Identity of Northern Ireland, whether it should belong to Britain or become part of a United Ireland. Ireland itself has always been independent, to my knowledge, developing from Celtic traditions into the heavily Western-influenced country we see today.

What is the source of conflict between Ireland and Northern Ireland?

There is no conflict between the north and the republic. Basically Ireland was under british rule and events in the years after the 1916 rising led to The British 'giving back' Ireland, ie creating a republic. Although, 6 counties in Ulster (out of 9) were kept under british rule, and are now Northern Ireland. Within northern Ireland there are nationalists, those who want the north to join the republic, and unionists, those who want to remain under british rule. Therefore the conflict is generally confined within the north..

One similarity between the Roman Empire and the Ottoman Empire is that both 1 reached their height of power at the same time 2 developed parliamentary government 3 sensured equality for w?

This is completely incorrect. In fact, the Ottoman empire came to power as the last vestiges of the old Roman empire disintegrated. Neither ever had a parliamentary government. The Romans once had a republican form of government where their leaders were elected by the citizens. But this practice came to an end around 45 BC with the rise of Julius Caesar. The Ottoman Empire always had as its head of state an hereditary Sultan. However the Sultan usually designated a Grand Vizier as his head of government. The Vizier had what could be described as cabinet called the Porte that resembled the cabinet of a Parliamentary democracy. But the ministers were never chosen by an elected parliament. Equality is a concept born out of the European Enlightenment and American self-government and was not a concern of either the Roman or Ottoman empires.

The Republic of Ireland is and always has been a neutral country. So the Republic of Ireland has never been at war with anyone. Your question may come from a misconception of Ireland and the troubles that have been in Northern Ireland. Many people have the mistaken idea that Ireland and England are at war, or that the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland are at war, neither of which are true.
