Even if they managed to get out, Jews then had to avoid recapture and had to survive ...

It was nearly impossible since guards surrounded almost the entire fenced area but a few did.

It was not enough to escape, however. They had to avoid recapture. For example, Rudolf Reder escaped from Belzec in 1943 and managed to avoid being recaptured.

There were also mass breakouts at Sobibor and Treblinka. Alexander Pechersky, one of the two leaders of the Sobibor breakout, lived till 1990. The other leader, David Feldhendler, was murdered in 1945 by Polish antisemites.

At first, yes, but primarily only to go to work. Eventually that was suspended, and then, eventually, they were relocated to concentration camps.

they would simply walk out. Some had no walls others had enough gaps in the walls for anyone who wanted to find a way out.

the problem was where to go once they were out.
