No. Tyler's three sons-Robert, John, and Tazewell--were all too old to serve in the Confederate line. They all served the rebel cause, however, mainly in the Confederate government, Robert in the treasury and John in the war department, while Tazewell was a Confederate surgeon. Of Tyler's grandsons, though, at least one served in the Confederate army: John Tyler Waller was killed at the Battle of Ball's Bluff in 1862.
