"If Severus Snape had made some different choices, Lily may have very well loved him. All love is not romantic love though. They were best friends and she cared about him long before she could even stand James. However, Snape chose to go down a dark path that Lily could not follow. He longed to be a Death Eater and to join up with Voldemort, and this was against everything Lily believed in."
I want to know why she picked James. I get the Snape part, but why would she marry James? He's such a dick.
Lily Evans did love James Potter. He become less arrogant, and matured a lot, which let her see a side of him that she liked.
J.K. Rowling once said, in one of her interviews, that Lily "might have grown to love [Snape] romantically, had he not loved the Dark Arts so much."
So Lily falling in love with him was a possibility, but he ruined it by immersing himself too deeply into the Dark Arts.
Lily Evans grew up near Snape's childhood home of Spinner's End, and Snape soon noticed that she was a witch born to Muggles. He took to watching her covertly as she played outside with her sister Petunia, and eventually revealed himself. At first, Lily was not drawn to Snape because he treated her sister with disdain, but the two children eventually became friends, discussing various aspects of the wizarding world and their excitement about attending Hogwarts together. Snape had romantic feelings for Lily from a very early age, and although Lily liked him as a friend, his slightly obsessive love for her was unrequited. At Hogwarts, Snape was upset when Lily was sorted into Gryffindor house, rather than Slytherin with him, and hated that his rival James Potter was also romantically interested in Lily. However, the two remained best friends until their fifth year, when Snape began associating with students like Avery and Mulciber; Lily detested that they took pleasure in using Dark magic, and suspected that they all intended to become Death Eaters. Their friendship was shattered when Snape unintentionally called her a disparaging name after being humiliated by James and Sirius Black; Lily refused to forgive him and chose to never again associate with him. When Lord Voldemort came to believe that Lily's son Harry Potter was the subject of a prophecy made about his possible defeat in1980, Snape betrayed the Death Eaters by bringing the information to Albus Dumbledore. He agreed to do anything in order to keep Lily safe. When she was murdered along with her husband, Snape wished he was dead as well. To honor her sacrifice for her son, Snape agreed to join the Order of the Phoenix and to protect Harry's life at all costs.
In the final book, we learn that Severus Snape knew Lily Evans since a child and through his actions around her, that he was both nervous since he hides from her and spies on her, and that he has feelings for her as he shows off to her. Throughout the memories, we see that he grows fond of her and loves her.
Lily is his best friend until Severus calls her a mud-blood. When he sells out the Potter's by telling Lord Voldemort about the prophecy, he even implores Voldemort to spare Lily, something which Voldemort agrees to but only after teasing him about it.
After that, he feels remorse about his actions that lead to Lily's death and Albus Dumbledore chides him, which leads to Severus revealing his Patronus is a silver doe in memory of Lily, and demands that he help him to protect Harry.
So Severus loved Lily for pretty much all his life.
Yes, the got married and had a child. Had they not been killed they would have lived long and happy lives.
Yes, he loved her.
You can read the chapter "The Prince's Tale" in Harry Potter and theDeathly Hallows for more information.
Lily didn't love Severus. Their friendship was broken due to his hatred of muggle-borns and dark arts activity.
No, Snape loved her but she never loved him back. J.K Rowling has stated she may have ended up loving him if he wasn't so associated with the Dark Arts.
Lily Evans and James Potter. I'm obsessed with the series. :)
It is a doe because Snape always loved Harry's mother, Lily, and her patronus was a doe. His never changed as he always loved her, as shown in the final book. Lily's patronus is a doe as it is complimentary to James Potter's stag.
Snape's true worst memory was calling Lily Potter a Mudblood. He loved her and he never wanted to hurt her. (BTW, the last answer was totally wrong.)
Because Snape hates him! or at least it seems that way. There are many examples of Snape going out of his way to make things hard on Harry, he subtley makes fun of him and his friends (the worst one, in my opinion, was when Hermione's teeth gets cursed to grow 10 times their normal size and when Snape is notified says "I don't know, she looks the same to me.") , and he takes points from griffindore for seemingly no reason-- I would hate him too! Another reason is that his father had a long going rivalry with Snape when they were in school together, though rivalry may not be the right word. James was popular, Snape wasnt and was often picked on by James. Harry finds out about this in the 5th book but still cant seem to trust Snape.
he looks into the pensieve (memories) snape gave him before he died. in this he saw dumbledore and snape talking about how harry was the last horcrux and how he should give himself up in order for voldemort to be destroyed. so harry gives himself up.
Lily Evans and James Potter. I'm obsessed with the series. :)
Yes, Snape went to the Potter's home in Godric's Hollow to find both Lily and James dead, but not Harry.
Because Snape was carrying a torch for (liked)Harry's mother, Lily. But Harry's mother did not know. So ever since James and Lily died, Snape had always loathed Harry.
There are many reasons. James Potter and Severus Snape both loved the same person, Lily Evans. Lily hated James but was friends with Snape until her fifth year. She began to date James in her seventh year after he grew up a little. However, both were very jealous of each other. James also hated Snape because he was a Slytherin and supported the death eaters.
Snape never married anyone. He was in love with Lily Evans from the time they were children, and never got over her marrying James Potter.
Yes, Severus Snape was always in love with his childhood friend and Harry Potter's mother, Lily (Evans) Potter. Snape ruined their friendship and any chance for a relationship due to his involvement in the Dark Arts, which led to him calling Lily a mudblood. This is a large part of the reason why Snape hates Harry's father, James, who frequently bullied him throughout his school years and then ended up with the woman he loved.
It is a doe because Snape always loved Harry's mother, Lily, and her patronus was a doe. His never changed as he always loved her, as shown in the final book. Lily's patronus is a doe as it is complimentary to James Potter's stag.
Professor Snape is Harry's teacher and the professor also had a rocky relationship with Harry's father in their youth. Severus Snape was also in love with Harr "Professor snape Harry" loved Lilly Evens Harry potter's mouther and they were freinds but Snape saw her Marry James potter one of his tormentors James and lilly have harry as a son are booth killed by voldermort now snape knows its his duity in love of lilly to protect Harry Snape is one of my favarate people in Harry potter
Severus Snape asked Lord Voldemort to spare Lily Potter because he loved Lily and didn't want her to die. Dumbledore was disgusted that he didn't care about James or Harry.
They are named after James Potter, Sirius Black; Albus Dumbledore, Severus Snape; Lily Evans and Luna Lovegood.
No, Snape loved Lily Potter (Evans). Harry's mother.
James ( Harryβs father) made fun of him at school and James stole Lily (Harryβs mother) from Snape who loved very much
