In John's Gospel, Mary Magdalene saw no one when she first went alone to the sepulchre. When she returned later, she saw the risen Jesus but did not recognise him, thinking that he was the gardener (John 20:14-15).

In Matthew's Gospel, Mary Magdalene was returning from the sepulchre with the other Mary, when they met Jesus. They both recognised him immediately and worshipped him (Matthew 28:9).

In the original version of Mark's Gospel, ending at verse 16:8, the women did not see the risen Jesus. In the 'Long Ending', at 16:9, Jesus appeared to Mary Magdalene and she went and told the others.

In Luke's Gospel, Mary Magdalene did not meet the risen Jesus.
