Mary Shelley, the author of "Frankenstein," had four children with Percy Bysshe Shelley, but only one survived to adulthood. Her first child died shortly after birth, followed by the deaths of her second and third children in childhood from illness. Her fourth child, Percy Florence Shelley, was the only one who lived into adulthood.
