Neil Armstrong was born in 1930 near Wapakoneta, Ohio and lived there until he went to college in Lafayette, Indiana (Purdue University)on a naval scholarship.

The US Navy interrupted his studies when he was called to serve during the Korean War. After the war Armstrong went back to his studies graduating in 1955. He moved to California to work with the National Advisory Committee on Aeronautics. This agency became NASA. (National Aeronautics and Space Administration. He moved to Houston while he was with NASA. When he left NASA in 1971 to teach Aeronautical Engineering at the University of Cincinnati he moved to the Cincinnati, Ohio Area (Warren Country and later Indian Hill, Ohio). He remained in Indian Hill until his death on August 25, 2012.

During his stint as a naval pilot from 1949-1953 he may have done some training at Roosevelt Rhodes Naval Air Station in Puerto Rico, but he was never stationed there and no such record has been found. During that time frame he was pretty busy with the Korean War and stationed on the USS Essex.
