yes, during WWI, Remington made thousands of Moisin Nagant rifles for Marist Russia. Few were delivered before Russia collapsed in revolution.

Harper's Ferry was the second Armory (Springfield was the first). When the south captured it they acquired the machinery and tools to make rifles identical to the Union rifles.

Sorry- there IS no ONE "best". Ruger, Browning, Winchester, Savage, Remington ALL make very good rifles- but there are also European makers that have great rifles.
Remington 700's are center fire rifles. Remington does make a very good 12 guage shot gun called the 870 (pump) and the 1100 (auto)- those are the popular ones i have both
Remington makes multiple rifles with detachable clips. The 742 and 760 both have detachable magazines. The Remington model 700 can be readily altered to a detachable magazine, parts are sold in Cabela's, and other suppliers.
Remington doesn't actually make the sparton 310. Rather it is Baikal in Russia that makes this gun. Remington imports them and I'm not sure that they actual do anything beside that.

Darned close. In WW I, Remington bought a locomotive plant in Eddystone PA, and used it to make military rifles. This became known as the Eddystone Arsenal. Many collectors refer to the rifles made there as "Eddystones".
Remington did manufacture a John Browning designed rifle. The Remington Model 8, semi-auto rifle was made from 1906 until 1936. The improved version, the Model 81, was made from 1936 until 1950. Remington also manufactured the Browning designed Auto-5 shotgun under their name as the Model 11 in various grades and gauges.
