I have never heard this suggested. Mental hospitals as we know them today(Funny Farms, Nut houses) did not exist in Elizabethan times, and there is no evidence that Shakespeare suffered any mental problems. he was in effect a de-facto Ghost Writer for Elizabeth I so must have had all his marbles, so to speak. In High school we studied in class Julilus Caesar and Macbeth, and saw the film version of the latter.I have heard it argued Shakespeare may have had something to do with English editing of the King James Version of The Bible- which is historically possible. Shakespeare was NEVER poet Laureate, by the way.
if you like any time period after WW2 then you should go to a mental hospital and burn in a fire

They should be put into a mental hospital when they take the step for themselves to be put into a mental hospital. However, if you wanted to be supportive as to try to encourage them to be put in a mental hospital, you should. If the person is extremely confused and seems almost harmful to others, you should help them out by putting them into the mental hospital. This person will appreciate it in the long run, so please do them a favor and put them in the mental hospital. If you are even asking this question to yourself, its time to put them in a mental hospital.
absolutely. if you are voluntary you can also leave at any time, they can't stop you. Just go to hospital and request voluntary mental health commitment.
The average hospital stay is 3 to 5 days. The amount of time you spend in the hospital depends on how your recovery goes.

There is no reason to believe that Shakespeare was obsessed with anything. He did spend a lot of time and energy getting himself a grant of arms which enabled him to call himself "Wm. Shakespeare, gent." but you cannot say that he was obsessed with social status, just that it was important to him.
