In 1915 a Rueters story was written before the prize was awarded. This was picked up and speculated into a rumor by a New York paper that reported the rumor. The year in question, the Nobel Prize went to the Braggs for their work in X-raying Crystaline structures whcih really changed how we understood a lot of things - like - atoms and molecules. :)
