NO. IN 1871 when the leagues split and the northern clubs set up the Rugby league the game became such that no one with League status could play union once they had been "paid" in a professional manner. Therefore even facilities were never shared.

However, due to the issues of payment and union wanting to keep the game armature the Rugby League was founded by a breakaway group in North England They immediately reworked that game and dropped the 2 flankers so that there were 13 players per side.
