He's not THE first, apparently Big Bird was the first character to appear, then Oscar the Grouch, then Bert & Ernie, then a group of random Muppets, and then Kermit appears w/ his 'W' lecture so yes he was in the original roster of Muppet characters when Sesame Street premiered but he was not the first.
Yes, but originally they were a roving act that did excerpts on other shows such as Jimmy Dean ( not the deceased actor) and so on. Probably the first Muppet was Kermit the Frog. I can recall a pantomine (Glow worm) episode. as originally developed, Kermit was not strictly speaking a frog but a ( Frog-like creature) Incidentally there was a prehistoric amphibian called an Eryops- that has the same numner of letters as Kermit. It should be understood that the Muppets settled down on Sesame street- but that was not their original habitat.
Yes, commencing with Big Bird. these were true Muppets designed and engineered by Jim Henson. In effect the Muppets settled down on Sesame street after a peripatetic migration as a sort of touring act on Talk Shows, things similar to Linkletter ( recall his calliope inventors) and so on.
Kermit was one of Jim Henson's first Muppets along with Fozzy Bear. They both pre-date Sesame Street and The Muppet Show.
No , but Jim Henson was the creator of both of the show's puppets .
There have a been a few appearances of Sesame Street characters on The Muppet Show.

Sesame Street
The very first episode of Sesame Street was aired on November 10th, 1969.In the first episode of Sesame Street, Gordon takes a girl named Sally on a tour of Sesame Street, introducing her (and the viewers) to the various characters on the show. On the street, Sally meets the human cast -- Gordon, Susan, Bob and Mr. Hooper -- as well as two Muppet characters, Big Bird and Oscar the Grouch.Ernie and Bert appear for the first time, and Kermit the Frog gives a lecture on the letter W, interrupted by an early version of Cookie Monster. Also featured in this episode are the first installments of the "Number Song Series" and "Jazz" cartoons, the first appearance of a group of Anything Muppets, and the first performance of "One of These Things". Carol Burnett is the first celebrity guest to appear on the show.In this episode, many sketches are introduced by the characters, even within the inserts. This reflects the fact that the show was initially conceived as a children's version of Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In. For example, Gordon asks Kermit to give his W lecture, and when the sketch begins, Kermit says that Gordon asked him to talk about the letter W.
The Yip yips are aliens from Mars who appear in skits on Sesame Street. They were first introduced on the show in 1971.
It's quite likely Herbert Birdsfoot didn't appear on the Spanish dub of Sesame Street. If he did, he likely kept the same name.
There was a Celebrity Version of Sesame Street's Monster in the Mirror on YouTube. Some of the Sesame Street characters appeared on The Simpsons, including Elmo. There was also a part of one of the christmas episodes of The Simpsons where the Simpsons characters are puppets.
Well ...not exactly. Jim Henson had been doing puppetry for some time before Sesame Street started; he had had a short sketch comedy show with puppets ("Sam and Friends") on TV, and had done a number of commercials for Wilkins Coffee with a puppet (named "Wilkins") that somewhat resembled Kermit the Frog without the "collar"/neck frill. He had settled on the name "muppets" for his style of puppets and created a company named "Muppets Inc." by 1958, over 10 years before Sesame Street premiered. Wilkins (along with his co-star "Wontkins") and Rowlf the Dog, who appeared on the Jimmy Dean Show, were the most famous Muppets from this era. In the 1960s, he met some of the founders of Sesame Street and decided to form a partnership with Children's Television Workshop; the basic agreement was that Henson would perform on the show at no fee, but would retain the rights to the Muppets used on the show, and CTW and Henson would split any revenue generated by them. So, the Muppets existed before Sesame Street, but once Sesame Street premiered, for years the most well-known Muppets were those that appeared on Sesame Street. Most of the Sesame Street Muppets were created specifically for the show (Rowlf did appear on one segment, and "Wilkins" became "Kermit the Frog", with changes to make him more frog-like). In the 1970s Henson did some sketches for Saturday Night Live featuring completely different (and frankly very weird) characters, and then started The Muppet Show with MOSTLY new characters.
