Not exactly. For a while the Romans had ten months. However thety had a lapse between one year of named dates and the next. The time in between was sort of unmentionable. They did not want to give names to those dreary days of bad weather because it would bring bad luck.

The months were also named after numbers, though most of them got renamed for one thing (or person) or another. September through December still reflect the Latin numbers seven through ten.
