the south wanted slavery
the south wanted slavery
south wanted slavery and north wanted "anti slavery"Slavery is not what the war was about. The south didn't want anything persay. The civil war is often catagorized as being a war over slavery, and this is false. The north was fighting to keep the union in tact. Abraham Lincoln stated that "If (he) could save the Union without freeing any slaves I(he) would do it, and if (he) could save the Union by freeing all slaves, (he) would do it....What (he did) about slavery, and the coloured race, (he did) because (he believed) it helps to save the Union."The south was fighting the was as a constitutional issue. They felt that the abolition of slavery and the compromises of 1850 and the Missourri Compromise impeded on their 10th amendment right to decide for themselves.
The Civil War was caused by both sides. The North was upset about the Southern use of slavery. They all thought it should be banned. Which angered the South because they felt they had their own rights. Of course the war would not have happened the the southern states not seceded. Also had they not attacked Fort Sumter this war may have never happened.
Some Northerners were known for having slaves; however, most Northerners were against the idea of slavery. Many slaves would venture up to the North through a system called the Underground Railroad in order to escape the brutal slavery seen vitally in the South.
It ended the system of chattel-slavery of West Africans in Southern plantations.
It did not end slavery.
Slavery exists now, wherever you have people-smuggling, pimping and drug-pushing - "Get her hooked. Get her into debt. Get her on the streets."
There are those who will not the use the word 'slavery' about this form of bondage. They are deluding themselves.
they did not like slavery the thought it was wrong the south did not
The north fought for the slaves because they thought that the south were beating there slaves so tey did fight for the slaves

Of course they were slaves. But during the civil War, they were treated very badly in the south because of discrimination. Some slaves were even killed for trying to run away. In the north, they were not slaves but still discriminated.

...North?
During the Civil War, the north needed to keep the Union together, to free the slaves, and to restructure the south. The North also wanted the Union to keep an united front on international affairs.
Much freer for slaves. Pretty much the same in both for whites
Contrabands were runaway slaves in the North.
