Titanic was heavier than any other ship of the time, thus making it the largest ship in the world. It had a NEARLY identical sister ship called the Olympic, which was the same size, but several tons lighter. Therefore, Titanic was the biggest ship in the world, because it was heavier than any other ship.
RMS stands for Royal Mail Ship (because the Titanic carried mail as well as passengers) Titanic means huge, after Titan the giant. Her sister ship Britannic was originally going to be called Gigantic. Her other sister ship was called Olympic after the place where the Giants lived before the Gods. The ship was the biggest passenger steamship ever made when she was launched in 31 May 1911.She started her service on 10 April 2012.
The sister ship to the Titanic was called the Britannic. The Britannic sank in 1916 in only 55 minutes of it exploding. The cause is unknown ,but what is known is that it momentarily passed through a battle zone. This posses a big shock because the Britannic had had a bunch of improvements to stop this from happening.
