It's much simpler than you're probably thinking. You use the term gram atomic weight for atoms, and the term gram molecular weight for molecules. That's all. The gram molecular weight of a molecule is the sum of the gram atomic weights of the atoms making up that molecule.

What is the difference between an oxygen atom and an oxygen molecule?

An oxygen atom is an atom with eight protons and eight electrons. An oxygen molecule is a particle that consists of two oxygen atoms that are bonded together.

What is the difference between an atom a molecule and an element?

An atom is a nucleus of protons and neutrons with electrons orbiting around. An element is an atom with a specific amount of protons, neutrons, and electrons. A molecule is a bunch of atoms stuck together.

What is difference between potassium atom and molecule?

an atom is a nucleus,[ nutrons and protons] and a number of electrons whirring around it. a molecule is a combination of two or more atoms to make something new

What is the difference between an atom, a molecule, and an element?

An atom is the smallest unit of matter that retains the properties of an element. A molecule is a group of atoms bonded together. An element is a substance made up of only one type of atom.

What is the difference between an atom, an element, and a molecule?

An atom is the smallest unit of matter that retains the properties of an element. An element is a pure substance made up of only one type of atom. A molecule is a group of atoms bonded together.

What is difference between an atom and a monoatomic molecule?

Diatomic molecule is a molecule that is made up of only 2 atoms. Triatomic molecule is a molecule that is made up of only 3 atoms. Thus, the difference is that a diatomic molecule is made up of only 2 atoms while a triatomic molecule is made up of only 3 atoms.

How can an atom not be a molecule?

A molecule is composed of one or more atoms that are properly bonded to each other. If a molecule contains more than one atom, each atom is then a partial molecule as opposed to a whole molecule. Therein lies the difference.

What is the difference between oxygen atom and an oxygen molecule?

An oxygen atom is a single atom of the element oxygen, while an oxygen molecule is made up of two oxygen atoms bonded together. The molecule is the stable form of oxygen found in the atmosphere that we breathe.

What is the difference between a molecule of an element and a molecule of a compound?

An element can be distinguished by only one atom of an element because it has significant properties, while a molecule has to be found by two atoms like O2 and H2.

How do you know HBr is polar?

HBr is a polar molecule because it has a significant difference in electronegativity between hydrogen and bromine. Bromine is more electronegative than hydrogen, causing a partial negative charge on the bromine atom and a partial positive charge on the hydrogen atom, creating an overall dipole moment in the molecule.

What is the difference between an atom a molecule and lattice?

An atom is the smallest particle of an element, anything further has "lost its identity" of that element. Atoms make up molecules. A molecule is a bond between two non-metals. Atoms also make up lattices. Lattices are a part of bonding between metals.

What is the gram molecular mass of sulfur molecule?

The gram molecular mass of a sulfur molecule (S8) is 256 grams per mole. This is calculated by adding up the atomic mass of each sulfur atom in the molecule. Each sulfur atom has an atomic mass of 32 grams per mole, and there are 8 sulfur atoms in a sulfur molecule.
