'Aqueous' is from Latin for water. So an aqueous solution is when water is being used as the solvent.
Non-aqueous solution is when water is NOT being used as the solvent. Possible non-aqueous solvents are Propanone(Acetone) or Ethanol (ethyl alcohol)
