What is the difference between granular and agranular white blood cells?

Granular Leukocytes account for about 50-70% of all WBCs, and include neutrophils, eosinophils, and basophils.

Agranular Leukocytes account for 25-35% of all WBCs. They include lymphocytes and monocytes.

Apart from the difference in function regarding each individual type of white blood cell, the primary difference between granular and agranular leukocytes is that the former has visible granules, whereas the later does on have any noticeable granules.

1- neutrophil: 60-7-%, granules NOT distinct, multi-lobed nucleus, phagocytes

2- eosinophil: 2-4%, pink-orange granules, bio-lobed nucleus, involved w/ Allergies

3- basophil: 0.5-1%, S, H, or U shaped nucleus, dark blue granules

Agranulocytes have 2 parts:

1- lymphocytes: 20-25%, smallest wbc (white blood count), large rounded nucleus, some produce anti-bodies

2- Monocytes: 3-8%, largest wbc, kidney shaped nucleus, may devlope into microphage
