Robert Heinlein had one of his characters define the idea of self in his book Time Enough For Love: Sometimes she goes away, but I am always here. Self is the concept each person has of their own intelligence, their ego. Non-self is everybody else.

"Self" refers to one's own individual identity, consciousness, and existence. "Non-self" refers to everything external to oneself that is not part of one's identity or consciousness. The concept of non-self is often used in religious or philosophical contexts to emphasize the interconnectedness of all things and the absence of a permanent, unchanging self.

What distinguish between self-centering and non self-centering concrete floor?

Self-centering concrete floors have specialized design features that enable the structure to re-center itself after experiencing lateral displacement, such as during an earthquake. Non self-centering floors do not have this capability and may sustain permanent deflection or damage when subjected to lateral forces. The self-centering system typically involves a combination of base isolation devices and energy dissipation elements to enhance seismic performance.
