The difference is 1. Jesus came as a human being and ministered physically for

three years.

2. After Jesus left, the Holy Spirit came. His role is to continue the ministry of Jesus till the end of the age. The Holy Spirit is invisible as He is Spirit and He has been operating for about 2000 years since Jesus ascended to heaven.

3. Only the name of Jesus can give us salvation (Acts 4:12) Not the Holy Spirit.

Jesus' disciples were told to wait for the "Promise of the Father" which was the outpouring of the Holy Spirit when they would be endued with power from on high and in the book of Acts in the Bible, the distinctive purpose was the outpouring of the Holy Spirit to empower the church for ministry. This "outpouring" as it is called happened when the disciples were gathered together in Jerusalem (after Jesus had ascended into Heaven) when suddenly something like "tongues of fire" appeared over each one, giving them the ability to speak in "tongues", which were other languages unknown to them. The crowds who came from several countries were able to hear the Gospel of Jesus and salvation in their own language and many received salvation that day.

Many people call the Holy Spirit "a force, a thing, an "it", but the Bible tells us that the Holy Spirit is a person. A few examples below.

e. He can be lied to - Acts 5:3,4 - ."Why has satan filled your heart to lie to the

Holy Spirit...".

f. He can be blasphemed - Matt.12:31,32 - "....blaspheming the Holy Spirit

shall not be forgiven him".

g. He can be grieved - Eph. 4:30 - .."And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God..."

h. He can be insulted - Heb. 10:29 - ..".and has insulted the Spirit of Grace..".

These characteristics are of a person. He is not some impersonal force . He is a person with the divine attributes of God.

He is eternal - Heb. 9:14: He is all powerful - Luke 1:35: He is everywhere present - Ps.139:7: He is Creator - Gen. 1:2 (The Spirit of God was hovering over the water) and Gen. 1:26 says "Let US make man in OUR image". There are many more examples, but these ones help show that the Holy Spiritis a person as in God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit.

I, personally, am one woman, yet I function as 1.a wife 2.a mother 3.a daughter. Each "role" is different from the other.

The Holy Spirit is the same. He is part of the trinity called God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit. God as creator, God in the flesh as Jesus and God in power as the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is absolutely God.

In Luke 1:35 the virgin Mary is told "The Holy Spiritwill come upon you and you shall bear a child..."

In John 14:16-18 Jesus states "I will pray the Father and He will give you *another Helper* that He may abide with you forever, the Spirit of truth, whom the world (unbelievers) cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him, but you know Him (believers) for He dwells with you and will be in you, I will not leave you as orphans".

*Another Helper* means - "Come along side of, One besides, another of the same kind."

The Holy Spirit demonstrates the continuity of Jesus' work (I find a good way to remember who He is with this little prose): He is God, in action, in love, in the earth.

The Holy Spirit works as an agent in people's lives by convicting them of sin and righteousness and of judgement (John 16:8-11) amongst other things. He is called the Spirit of Truth because He guides people into all truth. (regarding salvation, right living -and eternal life).

At Jesus' baptism in Luke 3:22 it states "and the Holy Spirit descended in bodily form like a dove upon Him and a voice came from heaven which said "You are My beloved Son, in You I am well pleased." Here is also evidence of the trinity, God the Father speaking, God the Son, Jesus being baptised and God the Holy Spirit descending like a dove".

A good description I believe, would be this "I need Jesus for my eternal life and the Holy Spirit for my internallife" as He daily guides me and reveals His plans and purposes for me.

The power It is holy because it is from Jehovah, who is clean and righteous to the highest degree, and because it is God's means to accomplish what is holy. (Matthew 4:9,10, 20:23; Luke 22:41,42; John 5:19; 8:42; 13:16)

The Holy Scriptures tell us the personal name of the Father-Jehovah. They inform us that the Son is Jesus Christ. But nowhere in the Scriptures is a personal name applied to the holy spirit.

The bible says that the Father (God), the Son (Jesus), and the Holy spirit are all one. This is called the Holy Trinity. They are separate yet one. God is in the Son and in the Holy Spirit therefore they are one.

"The Father" is a reference to God. "The Son" is a reference to Jesus of Nazareth. And "The Holy Spirit" embodies a third "person" in the Trinitarian formula. (Although the common definition of "person" is used here, it represents more of a being). It is usually represented as a dove in paintings of biblical scenes, though others use Gabriel. In some Christian doctrines, these three beings are all parts of one and the same God. They are described as separate in person, one in essence.

Another answerThis is the make up of the triune Godhead. The Father is God in Heaven. He is called Father because he sent us Jesus Christ (who is actually God in human form) his son. When Jesus went back to Heaven, he sent us his spirit--which is called the Holy Spirit (or Holy Ghost) to dwell on Earth, and inside born-again believers.

They are mentioned in this order because that is chronologically (for us mortals) how they were presented to us. But they are all equal, and they are all one--not separate persons.

Those are the members of the triune godhead. God is 3 in one. He is the Father (The part commonly named as God), the Son (Jesus), and the Holy Spirit (the one that dwells in the hearts of all Christians).
