That is only fully true of domesticated animals. Wild animals can be taught new behavior, or "tricks", but their true instinct is always present.

well, it can be both. as you live out your life you tend to pick up habits. when a bug lands on you, you swat it away; if you did something wrong and your parent/guardian finds out you know how the

y will react; etc... But humans are also are born with the instinct to be omnivores and when something dangerous comes along to do something about it. soo, ya, both.

It's a learned behavior.

This is illustrated by how easy it is to find YouTube videos of house cats getting along famously with parakeets, hamsters and gerbils. They learned immediately from birth that food is the crunchy stuff in that bowl over there, and all the other critters are friends they can hang out with.
