Without breaking my doll, I went ahead and did some investigating on my little vampire doll to see if I could cannibalize for just the torso. If you were to disassemble the doll completely, you'll need to do alot of work attaching the different body parts on her as the joints for the build your own monsters are different from the normal standard dolls. The standard dolls are all assembled with elastic joints and normal pins to keep joints together and flexible. the build your own versions are all ball joints.
so unless you're up for the task of completely ruining a doll just for her torso, be prepared to do some crafty work assembling your new doll together. Better to buy to cheaper ones that nobody cares to collect :)
Well they can sort of I guess because my sister takes her dolls apart so they have different colored body parts but you can put them back together too it is easy!

It depends on where you shop. Most Monster High Dolls come with a pet, brush, and accessory and are about $19.99. The Gloom Beach, Skull Shores, and Roller Maze girls do not come with a pet and are about $10-$15.
