An account number in the UK contains 8 digits. Some banks in the UK offer shorter account numbers (i.e. 7 digits) and in this case, you can enter '0' at the start of the number to make the length up to 8 (when filling out forms online and so on).

Numbers don't stop in either direction. The smallest positive number not starting with 0 is 1. The smallest negative number is infinite.
It is the distance from the origin (point 0) to the given point, taking account of the scale.
Start counting from 0 to 9. Stop when you reach the number 1.
So the positive and negative numbers know where to start.
