Only the giant armadillo of South America is considered as endangered. The pink fairy armadillo may also be endangered but its status is currently uncertain. Most other species are doing quite well and the range of the nine-banded armadillo continues to expand well into the United States.

This depends on the species. Some species have a high population in the Americas. Their range in the US is expanding actually and they are a serious road hazard in the American south. However, some species such as the pink fairy armadillo and the giant armadillo are endangered.

Mostly. There are many different breads of armadillos that are endangered or threatened. But some aren't at all. This is due to domestic dogs.

Not all species of armadillo face extinction but those that do are victims of habitat loss along with over hunting for food or sport as well as predation by domestic animals, such as dogs and cats.
