The webs have no adhesive qualities, but the irregular structure entangles any insects that come near. The spider will then move very quickly and envelope its prey in a silken case, finally delivering the fatal bite. If the spider is threatened by either prey that is to large or something touching the web, the spider vibrates the entire web in a gyrating motion. This allows the spider to become an invisible blur to any predator that might be planning making it a quick snack. This behavior has earned the daddy long legs a new name, "Vibrating Spider", although they are not the only species to exhibit this action.

When the daddy long legs is removed from its web, they are rather clumsy and will walk with an unsteady bobby action.
