Their are protons, neutrons, and electrons that make up an atoms nucleus and its cloud. manipulating these will give you different elements with different properties but it is all how that combination reacts.

Yes, they do. These vertical columns are referred to as families or groups. For example, column one consists of the highly reactive alkali metals, which all react similarly because they have one valence elctron. Other groups include the halogens (group 17), the noble gases (group 18), and the alkaline-earth metals (group 2).

They are generally found in the same column, or group. It depends on the properties that you are comparing but general reactiveness and electronegativity is definitely based on columns. Put simply, the columns group the elements by their valance shells (outer shells) which is the part of the atom that interacts with other atoms in a chemical reaction, as each group contains elements with the same number of electrons in the valence shell, they should in theory react in similar ways.

in prediotic table the elemants in same column doesnt have there phisical properties same because the properties depend on the electrons and protons of it in other sence some elemants are meatals, non-metals, and metolieds and evey group which i have told have different meltind, boiling.

the differences are that

- some have shiny appearences and some dont have it

- some have high densites and some have low densties

- some have high melting and boiling piont and some have low

- some are good conductors of heat and elctricity and some are bad

- some are ductile (can be drawn into wires) and some are not

- some are malleable (can be beaten into shapes) and some are not

Generally it is elements in a column, not a row, that share properties.

Elements that are in a vertical column in the periodic table that tend to share similar chemical properties and characteristics are called a?

The vertical elements are called groups. They have similar chemical properties.

What are the familys of the periodic table?

families are vertical columns of elements they have similar chemical and physical properties.

How do groups and periods on the periodic table differ?

Groups are vertical and contain chemical elements with similar properties; periods are horizontal.

What name is given to the elements in a vertical column on the periodic table?

The elements that are listed in vertical columns all share specific aspects. These aspects include having the same number of valence electrons and having similar chemical properties.

What is the signification of the vertical columns of the periodic table?

The vertical columns called "groups" contain a family of elements i.e., all elements present in a group or family (or the vertical column of a periodic table) have similar chemical properties due to the same number of valence electrons.

The vertical columns in the periodic tableof the Elements contaian elements with the same what?

The elements in a vertical column, or group, have the same properties.

What does the periodic table show you about the elements?

It groups elements with similar properties in vertical columns

Why elements in the same vertical column of the periodic table also called a family?

The elements in the same vertical column have certain similar chemical properties hence they work as a family. Eg- Halogen family

Why are the elemets in the periodic table listed in ceratin groups?

The vertical "groups" group elements by chemical properties the horizontal "periods" group elements by the number of energy levels

What do vertical colums represent in the periodic table?

Physical and chemical properties change somewhat regularly across a period. Elements that are close to each other in the same period tend to be more similar than elements that are father apart.

What three elements have the most similar physical and chemical properties?

Magnesium, strontium , and barium belong to group 2A of the periodic table. These have two valence electrons in their outermost shell. So these three elements have similar chemical properties. But the other given elements do not lie in same group so they have different chemical properties.

What do you know about the chemical properties of all the elementsin a vertical row in the periodic table?

Elements in vertical rows of the periodic table generally have the same chemical properties. This means that they will usually react in a similar way with other elements, producing compounds with similar appearance and behavior. Keep in mind that this is, like most rules in chemistry, not a hard-and-fast rule and can only be used to generalize. Nonetheless, it is a good rule and contributes toward the understanding of the periodic chart and chemical reactions in general.
