There appears to be different ranks of angels in The Bible with varying degrees of authority and power. Two are mentioned.
Cherubim (Ker-u-bim) which is the plural of Cherub, are described as having "four" wings - Ezek.10:21.
Seraphim have "six" - Isa.6:2.
Three "archangels" are named in the Bible: Michael, Gabriel and Lucifer, who apparently were given administrative authority over one-third, each, of the total of God's created angels.
Lucifer's one-third followed him in his rebellion against God sometime in the beginning of the creation of the universe. Michael and "his angels" fought Lucifer (Satan) and his angels (Rev.12:7-9).
The Bible calls Lucifer a "cherub"... which is a four-winged angel.
"...thou hast been in Eden the Garden of God... thou art the anointed cherub that covereth..." (Ezek.28:13-14).
It's logical to assume that all three ruling archangels are Cherubs with four wings each.
Two replicas of these cherubs were formed and placed on each end atop the lid of the Ark of the Covenant (Ex.25) with their wings stretched out, covering the Mercy Seat in the center of the lid, which represents the throne of the Father in heaven. According to the above passage, then... Lucifer was once at the very throne of God wielding a position of great authority in God's Government in the universe.
"...over it the cherubims of glory shadowing the Mercy Seat; of which we cannot now speak particularly." (Heb.9:5)
The lower "ranks" of angels, among whom are the fallen ones under Satan, aren't described as such, so it isn't known if they possess the attributes of upper echelon angels or if they have their own unique characteristics - wings, or no wings.
Most of the time in the Bible, however... whenever an angel appears within the vision parameters of the human eye.... they appear as "men."
"And the Lord appeared unto him in the plains of Mamre... he lifted up his eyes and looked, and, lo, three men stood by him... and the men turned their faces from thence, and went toward Sodom: but Abraham stood yet before the Lord..." (Gen.18:-1-2 & 22).
"And there came two angels to Sodom at even... they called unto Lot, and said unto him, Where are the men which came in to thee this night?" (Gen.19:1-5)
So, it isn't known if demons have wings or not. Nor, it must be imagined, would those possessed by them really care.
I guess demons have wings because in most paintings of them, they do. They are seen as 'unearthly beasts'. As far as I'm concerned demons look a bit like bats :D
Lesser demons don't, greater demons do
