∙ 13y agoYes they do! I have 5 males and 1 female. I have always had male cats and got my first female just recently because she desperately needed a home. All of my cats are fixed, and indoors. Now, initially there are some spats, minor really, to establish a pecking order. Once established, it is rarely challenged unless there is an illness or a death. I just recently been through a spat that lasted all of 1/2 day, then piece. So, expect some competition right off, but after that, my cats sleep together like litter mates. Good luck to you.

∙ 12y agoIt all depends on the owners REALLY. My parents had a female dog who had never lived witha a cat before and then was given a full grown male siamese cat who had never lived with a dog.
Things were not peachy on day one but eventually they became best friends. When the dog got older and had Arthritis the cat would actual massage the dogs hip. Trust story.

∙ 9y agoThat will depend entirely on the two cats, individual cats are so different. It often helps to initially keep them isolated in their own rooms for a short period to get used to each other's smells without direct confrontation. Then give them longer and longer periods of time together. But for a few cats even this won't work.
