There is no evidence to suggest that giraffe dig holes to die. This myth seems to have been perpetuated with the film Madagascar Escape 2 Africa. There is no way a giraffe would have the strength to dig a hole when it approaches death, especially one that was large enough for it to fit into.
There is some suggestion that, in times of drought, giraffes dig to help open up waterholes, but this is the only form of digging that giraffes undertake.
I've been searching for the answer to this one for a while too, and I've come to the conclusion, but am still not sure, they DO NOT....
Giraffes, and other animals do dig holes for water, but not to die in.
Its near impossible for a giraffe to do that, especially if fully grown, that hole would have to be huge, and If the giraffe is indeed sick, how would it muster the strength? They aren't even the type of animals made to dig, they aren't built for that. :) hope that was helpful...<3
they dig two holes for the babies won't die and human think is a real neat ,but is not a real one
they actually dont die in winter, they dig holes and have babies in the hole and survive there.
Rabbits dig the holes that is why they have claws.....
There are many animals that dig holes underground. Frogs dig holes. Moles also dig holes and rabbits can as well. Animals will do this for protection, and to stay cool.
Why do other animals come to the water holes to drink when they see that the giraffes are there
