I found a baby toad and i was wondering if they ate black ants because that is all i could find... please answer. They eat a variety of insects. Ants, grasshoppers, crickets and earthworms. If you are truly concerned about the toad, just let him go. They hunt during the day and in the summer, at night. He should be able to survive on his own.
I have manybaby toads and i know for a fact that they don't eat red ants. They mostly eat wingless fruit flies or really small pinhead crickets. Pinheads are at any pet stores but fruit flies u might have to catch yourself. go to YouTube and there are some good videos on how to catch them. hope that helps.

Horny toads, also known as horned lizards, are now very rare in the state of Texas. As most horned lizards eat only harvester ants, and can eat up to 200 a day, there needs to be an adequate supply of the ants near them. However, due to the resent increase of fire ants, there have not been many harvester ants for them to eat, so the horned lzards have died out. Now, though, the lizards are flourishing in other states, such as New Mexico, Arizona, and other Southwestern states.
It has been said that most frogs do not like to eat ants of any kind. Frogs that are known to eat ants (or fire ants) are cane toads or bull frogs.
