actually many do know there names I know a horse named coco if you put her out to pasture and call her name she will come trotting over. Or if you walk up to a horse's stall and say their name many with lift their heads.

∙ 13y agoIf you talk to them then yeah. If you don't talk to your pony then he will feel lonely. How would you like it if no one talked to you? Well horses and ponies feel the same you know, and after a while when you halt or walk or go from any transition your horse will get so used to the sound he will automatically do it without leg or pulling on the reins. Sometimes horses are named after their character ex: a lively horse may be named Fire Bird or a mello horse may be named Bluez Brother. Horses often have show names like Fire Bird or Bluez Brother but have stable names like Flame and Blue or any other nick name you want. Some horses names are based off colors/patterns like a paint may be named Jigsaw and a true black horse may be named Midnight. Another way is horses may be named in other languages such as French, Arabic, Spanish or any language that you can think of ex: Noyr is black in French (I think) or Blanco is white in Spanish. Also Grecian goddesses or gods provide interesting names such as Aphrodite (the goddess of love) or Thor. Ultimately you can name your horse anything you want!
