10 years in any unversity for lower claas for uper class 50 years Actually, a garbage man, or city sanitation worker, is an honorable profession as there are not too many persons willing to do it. It is seen as a lowly profession by many, but without these dedicated individuals, we would probably be "swimming" in a world of trash and filth. Although not much education or training may involved as an introductery-level employee, certainly any higher level of education would be beneficial for advancement.

in most cases a high school or GED but some companies may not require it but you do need former c.d.l. training to operate the vehicle class a or b depending on the weight class also if it hauls hazardous materials then you need haz. training also to get cert on your driver lic.
