No your pool is considered a closed system all the water that you add goes only to the filtering system and back. If you put in too much water you will overflow the edges and make your skimmer less efficient. unless you have a floating pool skimmer then the pool will be able to change level without affecting the efficiency of the skimmer.
No as long as the skimmer section of the pool is properly supported like the rest of the pool

Stop filling it up.
You pour it slowly into the skimmers and it stays in the filter
Too much water in your pool means the skimmers won't work properly. There's not enough suction to skim the debris from the top of the pool. Too little water and your skimmers will be sucking air and that will go into you system causing it to not work properly. Keep your water level about 2-3" from the bottom of the skimmer, or 1/4-1/2 the way up from the bottom. Most or all pool skimmers do not have gaskets. However, above ground pools have gaskets that go between the face plate and the liner on one side. On the other side the gasket goes between the back plate and the liner. Can someone confirm that?
The water will spill out through the skimmer, unless the skimmer it is blocked. Otherwise, it will spill over the top. It should not hurt the pool.
yes, it is perfectly ok to put tabs in skimmer basket. +++ NO: it is NOT OK - unless the manufacturers of the particular skimmers, pumps and filters on your pool advise it is permissible. Buy either a proper in-line tablet feeder (it goes in the return pipe downstream from the filter) or floating basket-type tablet dispensers. The skimmers are NOT chemical dispensers.
The pool skimmer is the part of the system that the water overflows into for the pump to pump it thru the filter and other accessories. There is usually a screen or mesh basket to catch large debris before it enters the pump. On above ground pools it will be found hanging on the outside of the pool near the top. In-ground pools can have the skimmer placed anywhere along the perimeter with a basket or screen accessible for cleaning.
Get a better pool skimmer normal pool skimmers usually don't do a very good job of cleaning rubbish from the surface of a pool so try a floating pool skimmer have a look on www, dragonfly.biz
Salt is added throughout the pool not the skimmers.READ THE MANUAL AND THE SALT BAG CONTAINER.k
You can expect to pay at least $1000 for an above ground, and more for an in ground. It also depends on the size of the pool.
