When magma cools too fast what happens to the size of the crystals?

When magma cools fast, crystals are small.Less time to form crsytalsWhen magma cools slow, crystals are large.More time to form crystalsWhen magma cools very fast, crystals do not form; nothing.Very less time to formWhen magma cools very slow, large crystals form; a LOT.A lot more time to form

When magma cools slowly the crystals formed are generally large?

Yes it does

What types of crystal are formed if maltan rock cools quickly?

When a magma cools/solidifies, crystals are formed. The quicker the magma cools, the tinier the crystals. A granite for example, which is formed through slow cooling in the Earth's crust, consists out of big crystals. Contrary, magma erupting at the surface (which is then called lava) cools rapidly and consists out of tiny crystals. In extreme cases, the lava cools so rapidly that the resulting rock appears glassy. Hope this helps!

Why do rocks formed from lava have small crystals?

That's because of the cooling speed. When a magma or a lava cools, it forms crystals. The longer these crystals have the time to form, the larger they will be. However, at the surface, the lava cools relatively fast (at least, compared to magma that stays inside the earth). The crystals in the rock that forms that way don't have a lot of time to form, so don't grow big.

What is a type of crystal grain that forms when rock cools Slowly?

When molten rock cools slowly, it will have a lot of time to form crystals, so the crystal size will be quite big. Take granite, for example. With the naked eye, you can see the individual crystals. The grain size is quite large. The kind of mineral that forms is dependent on the composition of the magma.

Where did an igneous rock form if the rock contains large crystals?

Usually from the slow cooling of magma with a plentiful supply of material necessary for crystal growth, and space in which to grow.

Large crystals with well-formed crystal faces tend to form when?

Large mineral crystals can form when magma is able to cool slowly underground, creating intrusive igneous rock.

What is the simplified pattern that illustrates the order in which minerals crystallize from cooling magma?

when magma cools fast you get smaller crystals when it cools slow you get large crystals its very simple

What type of crystals is formed from slow cooling?

If the magma cools down fastly the crystal size is small because the crystals do not have much time to form. If They magma slows down slowly the crystal size is big because it gives the crystals time to form! :D

Magma cools slowly atoms cant arrange into crystals?

IF the magma cools slowly witin Earths eated interior the atoms have time 2 arrange themselves into large crystals!

What type of crystal grain forms when magma cools slowly?

the crystals are large

What affects the size of crystals formed from magma?

The rate at which the magma cools affects the size of the crystals that form. If it cools slowly, large crystals will form. If it cools rapidly, small crystals will form.if it takes the rock a long time to cool down the crystals will be bigger if the rock takes a short time to cool the crystals will be smaller

Magma that cools quickly does it produce rocks that are fined grained?

Generally speaking, yes. Magma that cools quickly will produce small, "fine grained" crystals.Magma which cools slowly will generally produce rocks with larger, visible to the naked eye, crystals. This is because while magma is cooling, crystals are forming. Generally, crystal which have more time to grow will be larger. Therefore, generally, the slower magma cools, the bigger the crystals will be. The faster lava cools, the less time crystals have to grow and are thus smaller, "fine grained".

If magma cools slowly do atoms have time to arrange themselves into large crystals?

False: they do have time 2 for large crystals 2 be made
