Lipids are insoluble, so they will form a layer on top of the water, much like when oil from a spillage will float above the water's surface, as it is less dense than the water. They will not dissolve.

No,becuase lipids are hydrophobic and for this reason they do not mix with water.

Why don't lipids or any sustances mix?

Lipids are hydrophobic, meaning they are repelled by water. As such, they do not mix with water.

Do water and oil mix together?

no they dont mix because it is scientificaly proven so. they just dont like each other. they are immiscible

What prevents lipids frommixing with water?

Water is polar, but lipids are nonpolar.

What biological molecule will not mix with water?

Lipids

What molecules in membranes allow lipids and water to mix?

the answer is that it is luck

Lipids are hydrophobib what does this mean?

i think you mean lipids are hydrophobic. this means lipids and water don't don't mix. the word hyrophobic itself means "afraid of water"

What is the chemical compound that can not mix with water used to store energy?

lipids

Which molecules are types of lipids?

Nonpolar organic molecules are lipids...including tryglycerides, phospholipids, steroids, waxes, and pigments.

What group of organic molecules does not dissolve in water?

A substance that doesn't mix with water is a hydrophobic substance. Common examples would be cooking oil, gasoline, petroleum jelly and wax.

Is lipid not soluble in water?

A lipid is not soluble in water. Lipids are hydrophobic which means they repel water. For example think of a oil tanker spill the oil is a lipid and it floats on top of the water.

Why water and a sponge would not be effective in cleaning up a grease spill?

1. grease contains lipids and fats and water and fats do not mix. 2. it is an organic compound

What do you conclude about the solubility of lipids in polar solvents such as water?

Lipids are non-polar molecules that DO NOT usually dissolve in water but DO usually dissolve in organic solvents. Lipids are fat molecule and think about adding eg oil (fat) to water. They don't mix. You always need an emulsifier (eg soap)
