though if you are going mushroom hunting, DO NOT PICK UP THE RED CAP. its the one on like hippieish posters. the ones we have in the us are deadly, the red caps from sweeden on the other hand are quite insane.
Yes there are a large variety of "magic" mushroom that grow in the north west, I recommend picking up a field guide that pertains specifically to hallucinogenic mushrooms if you plan on picking any as many can be very poisonous.

However, magic mushrooms themselves do not cause any diseases, any other than getting a food infection from fungi that can grow on improperly stored magic mushrooms (which can also happen to normal mushrooms or any other type of fresh food).
