There are many reasons why a baby rabbit would die, for instance:

  • Removing a baby from its mother too soon
  • Eating something harmful like chocolate
  • A virus, illness, or sickness of some kind (illness can be easily passed between rabbits in pet shops, rescue shelters, etc.)
  • An injury
  • Bad breeding (genetic problem)
  • It wasn't provided with the proper care

Unfortunately rabbits have a low survival rate and that's why they breed so rapidly to make up for this. They're are so many reasons why it might of died.

The survival rates for domestic baby rabbits is actually very high, unlike in the wild where there are many predators and natural perils.

The same way other creatures die; by disease, neglect, violence or old age.
Rabbits can die for all different reasons, for example:

- foxes (RED FOXES ESPECIALLY)

- get caught in a trap in a field

- a disease called myxomatosis

- other predators (hawks, falcons, weasels, raccoons, dogs, cats, etc.)

- other diseases (RHD, e-cuniculi)

- infections or parasites (like fly-strike)

- injuries or illnesses (broken bones, dental disease, digestive upset)

- poor diet low in fibre, or too high in sugars and fats

There are many other possible ways. See the related questions below for info.
Wild rabbits and rabbits kept outdoors often die by violence, since there are lots of predators which like to eat them. But even the most peaceful rabbit, kept as a pet and protected from all harm, still gets older and will eventually suffer from the diseases of aging. Heart attack is one possible cause of death.

Many pet rabbit actually live unnaturally short lives because the people who love them don't know much about them and don't take proper care of them. There are many ways a rabbit can get sick or injured, and if you don't notice and bring it to the vet, it will eventually die after days/weeks/months of pain and suffering.

This actually just happend to me this morning. If she is a first time mother, she may have killed them because she didn't know what they were. if she has had healthy litters before, the babies may have frozen to death, or the mother could not provide them enough nutrions.

They could die because they can't get the right amount of food or they are too skinny.

The most common cause of death in baby rabbits is they were taken away from their mother too early.

Rabbits may start nibbling on hay or pellets as early as 4 weeks, but they aren't fully weaned yet: they should stay with their mother until they're 8 weeks old. Rabbits get nutrition from their mother's milk, but also important antibodies that protect them against deadly bacteria.

Other reasons may be a virus or genetic defect.

Before breeding again, you should find out why these babies die, and fix whatever went wrong. You don't want to repeat this!

Newborn rabbits die from a number of reasons. Possibilities include but are not limited to the following:

1. Shaken bunny syndrome (SBS)

2. Alocohol Poisoning

3. Head dismemberment

Try not to feed your rabbits after midnight, keep them out of water.

Maybe because they are ill or aren't getting enough or even any milk. You should take then away from their mother and hand rear them yourself.
