Actually, ocean currents are what largely regulate the weather and the wind. Currently, the North Atlantic current is warm, therefore a small area of Greenland and the Arctic are warming and causing a little more melting of glaciers in that area.

How does air pressure affect ocean currents?

As the warm air rises, it expands, becomes cooler and condenses. This forms clouds which cause rain. And storms.

What do you call winds that change directions?

The uneven cooling and heating of the Earth by the Sun cause seasonal changes in wind direction. The heating and cooling causes temperature differences that then develop into wind currents.

What do ocean currents have to do with climate?

Ocean currents affect climate because they are able to change the temperature of the shores where the currents move to. Warm currents are able to prevent ice formation on some shores and beach lines. This gives the area relatively warmer temperatures throughout the year. The Gulf Stream (a warm current from Mexico to Europe) keeps Western Europe much warmer than the corresponding latitudes in North America. Ocean currents can have a great affect on the neighboring regions. These currents bring temperature and weather changes to these areas. Deep ocean currents changes the temperature and salinity. With the temperature changing, it affects climate.

How does the movement of air affect weather?

The direction and force of the wind can help you determine what weather you will be experiencing.Air. It's all around you, even when you're not aware of it. When you can feel the air moving, though, it may be a sign that the weather is changing or that a change is on its way. The way the air moves affects the weather, because winds move heat and cold temperatures from one place to another, transporting conditions from one geographical zone to another. The way winds pass each other, and the direction they move, also affects what weather a region will see on any given day.

How can global warming cause harsher winters?

Global warming is more accurately called global climate change. The popular press has it as a process that makes everything warmer. In reality the Earth's temperature affects diverse systems such as wind and ocean currents and the amount of moisture in the air. These impacts can make some areas hotter, some colder some drier and some wetter (or snowier). They can make storms more intense or change weather patterns (storms happen where they didn't occur before).

How does global warming change the climate?

Global warming affects the climate because it puts extra heat into the oceans and atmosphere. Heat is energy, and this energy is used to change our weather, with stronger storms and changes to wind and ocean currents. After a number of years this changed weather becomes changed climate.

What causes forces that affect currents in the ocean?

the uneven heating of the earth and change in the weather.

How does condensation affect weather?

A change in the amount of water vapor in the air affects humidity and that's how condensation affect the weather.

State two factors and explain how each influences the weather in Ohio?

Location affects weather in Ohio due to the low elevation and being just south of the Great Lakes, giving Ohio climate four distinct seasons. Also, prevailing winds from the southwest change wind directions and occasionally cause precipitation.

What affects the changes in the weather?

Amount of sunlight, the humidity of the clouds that are present in an area, pressure and wind direction are some factors that can cause the change of weather.

Why does weather changes from day to day?

there are about a million reasons for the weather to change from day to day. a short list of reasons include; high and low pressure, temperature, wind currents, jet stream, etc.

Why is it a negative thing for oceans to warm?

If the oceans gets warmer, it may change the path and pattern of the ocean currents. And the ocean currents are very important for the weather and climate that we've been taking for granted. If the oceans change, we may see droughts in one place, floods in another and storms in a third.

Can a panda bear change directions quickly?

yes a panda change directions quickly

How does water vapor change the weather in the atmosphere?

Water vapor affect weather. Because the sun evaporates the water to produce clouds, it makes sense. Then the wind pushes the clouds over the land causing it to rain it. That is how water vapor affects weather.

Why is the troposphere called the turbulent sphere?

The troposphere is also called the turbulent sphere because it is the sphere with the most change. It has moving air currents, clouds, storms, jet streams, strong and other weather phenomena that affect weather patterns.
