Octopus reproduce in a very unique way. When they are ready to mate, the male octopus inserts a special arm called the hectocotylus, which is filled with sperm cells, into the mantle cavity of the female. The female's mantle cavity is filled with eggs which are then fertilized and are attached to her lair where she guards them until they hatch. Male octopuses die about a few months after mating, and female octopuses die shortly after the eggs have hatched.
to improve on the previous answer, the male's third right arm is filled with sperm ect., and yes, they do proceed to ram the arm in and out of the female octopus. After this mating process, the male's third right arm falls off, and will regrow within a few months. glad I could be of service.
Octopuses don't give birth, they lay eggs. The eggs hatch months later.
The female lays eggs as do most sea creatures, then the male fertilizes them.

Octopus hatch en-mass from eggs. They just pop right out and find a place to hide.

There are no whales that give birth to dolphins. Dolphins give birth to dolphins; whales give birth to whales.
Well female octopus gives birth and male octopuses don'twell no duh to that genius. ummmm.........look it up on google :) ----The male octopus has no suction cups on the end of his 3rd arm on the right.
Theoretically yes, though maybe not from birth. Octopi possess cells known as chromatophores, which allow the octopus to change color and blend in with its environment to hide from predators. There are thousands upon thousands of color combinations available to octopi, so I imagine they can turn purple. However, I'm not quite sure if an octopus can be purple from birth.
