Most sodas have a chemical that corrodes very reactive objects. A penny is now made from zinc which is highly reactive to soda... try this, put a tooth in coke can overnight andsee what happens
Firstly, pennies do not contain iron and therefore cannot rust. The correct term is corrosion. Secondly, soda will actually clean any corrosion from a penny - try it for yourself by leaving a couple of them in a glass of coke for a few days. Only after this point will it begin to corrode the coin itself, and this might take a week to two weeks to begin, depending on the starting state of the coin.
does soda or Orange Juice rust a penny?
neither rust pennies . pennies don't rust they erode because the pennies now are not made of copper. the penny would turn green .
no. Sprite can not clean a penny.coke will clean a penny the quickest.can you give me some research.this is my science fair project by the way.i need some help.just give me an answer.
Pennies don't rust, they only corrode (rust implies the presence of iron, which is not so).
Nor do pennies corrode in either. They are at first cleaned, then dissolved.
Metal rusts because of oxygen. This will happen extremely slowly unless it comes in contact with water.
As pennies do not rust, no. It will oxidize, however.
yes
Soda
Apple juice is not a homogeneous solution.
Yes water makes a penny rust faster in water because the particles are nore affective and the coke does not have near as many particles as water well good luck with the expirementing that project!!!!!!!!
Filtered apple juice is a solution.
Copper and zinc-plated pennies do not rust, because they're not made of iron. The only American pennies that could rust were the steel cents struck in 1943. You might believe that a penny is rusting but instead it is corroding! Yes, it does not rust it just corrodes.
I done this experiment for 3 weeks and the juice i used (white grape juice) did not rust the nail.
No. The orange juice has CuO which cleans the penny by dissolving the rust off of it.
I don't know why you are cleaning a penny with juice but orange juice. The acid found in orange juice if left touching something for long periods of time can start eroding the surface , removing stains and rust.
Go to the store and buy a nail and some apple juice then try it out!!
yes it can
yes it can
by puttin it in apple juice then take it out and see
Okay so from what i have learned fot my project, No orange juice can not rust a penny it canonly turn it green. it will only turnthe penny green because, of the materialin a penny orange juice alsohas an acide in it called CuO Tha actuly diolves the rust OFF of the pennies. So NO orage juice can NOT rust apenny
yes
orange juice because of the acid
soda soda
The orange juice must make the penny rust faster because when put a penny in a dish of lemon juice, it makes it shinier... which also works with ketchup.
