No. Tangerines are a form of Orange, whereby Lemons are, well Lemons.

another answerwhile counter intuitive one can grow a tangerine tree from a lemon seed though it isn't very likely. biologicly all citrus fruit are one species meaning they can pollinate each other to produce viable offsprings. so if a tangerine pollen landed on a lemon flower and pollinated it and you sow the seed you will get a tangerine-lemony tree.

I have been growing a lemon tree from a seed. It is has been growing for 3 years, it is 2 feet tall. It has not flowered, so I have not seen a lemon grow yet. Still waiting. I did buy one from Florida a very small tree, last March 2009, it has already produced a flower.

No, only a lemon can grow from a lemon seed. That's why it is called a lemon seed. If an orange grew from it, it would be an orange seed.

Where does the tangerine grow?

I am in NW Florida and there are at least 75 producing citrus trees within 35 miles of my home. These include orange, tangerine, lemon, lime, kumquat and grapefruit. I have two Mandarin Orange trees that I am growing from seeds. They haven't produced anything yet, but they are only four years old. I also have three kumquat seedlings, 1 lemon and 1 lime that I have not set out yet; they are too small. So, if they are sold in your area they should be capable of producing fruit.

What tree does the Etrog grow on?

An etrog tree, just like lemons grow on lemon trees and oranges grow on orange trees. Etrogs are a very primitive relative of the lemon, and they are also considered a variety of citron, which just means lemon in some language but means thick skinned varieties with lots of seeds and hardly any juice in English. So, you can say that Etrogs grow on Citron trees. In any case, it's a variety of citrus fruit and without fruit, it's hard to tell the difference between etrog, lemon and lime trees.
