No, because melons have to grow on the ground considering the weight the melons will gain when they are at full growth. In other words, if melons were to grow on trees, they would end up falling in the middle of their growth because of the weight they gain throughout the process of growth.

Watermelon, like most melons, is the fruit of the watermelon vine. So, it grows out of the ground. They grow on long, creeping vines that also attach themselves with small tentacle-fibers to other plants or to debris on the soil as they grow right at ground level.

No they do not grow on trees. Watermelons grow on vines on the ground, much like pumpkins do...
